NURTURING YOUNG MINDS IN THE HEART OF HORSHAM FOR OVER 16 YEARS

Curriculum

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which supports children’s development across seven key areas of learning.

  • Communication and Language
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Our daily activities are based around the EYFS. We have a combination of child initiated as well as adult led play based activities that ensure every child benefits from an enjoyable learning and development experience while at the same time allowing plenty of opportunities to interact and play together with other children throughout the day.

Each child has a member of child who becomes their ‘key person’. The key person leads their assessment and planning and works closely with the parents to ensure the child’s welfare and development needs are being met effectively.

Our qualified staff provide the children with the support and encouragement they need to promote their learning and are kept well occupied. Their development is closely monitored and development records are updated on a regular basis. (We have recently started using Tapestry) TAPESTRY TAB We can then use these records to identify learning priorities for each child and plan activities that will help them make further progress.

Parents are able to speak with staff about their child’s care and be kept updated about their progress and how their child learns through play.

Continual Staff Improvement

Our well qualified and experienced staff are enthusiastic and have a shared vision to improve outcomes for all of the children. Staff are encouraged to further develop their own skill set and knowledge by completing additional training and courses.
